About the role:
Dear Grain is seeking a Junior Mixer to join our sourdough bakery. We’re looking for someone fast-paced, physically resilient, reliable, and consistent, with a genuine interest in committing to the craft of artisan sourdough bread making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and mix sourdough dough as the primary responsibility
- Assist with dough processing, including cutting and shaping loaves
- Accurately scale ingredients according to production requirements
- Mix multiple dough batches ranging from 50–160 kg
- Remove dough from mixers and portion into containers
- Cut and shape dough into loaves
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and restock inventory as needed

- Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in scaling and measurements
- Consistent and reliable; comfortable with repetitive tasks
- Punctual and dependable; timing is critical in production
- Physically capable of performing repetitive lifting, standing, and manual tasks in a production environment
- Able to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Open to constructive feedback and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of commercial kitchen or bakery experience
- Culinary or baking education preferred
- Physically able to safely perform the essential duties of the role, including repetitive lifting, standing, and manual work, with or without accommodation
- Willing to work with intensity in a production environment
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and ability to arrive on time for a 3:30 a.m. shift
Schedule availability:
- Full-time: 4 days per week, 30+ hours per week
- Shift length: Approximately 8 hours (may vary based on production needs)
- Schedule: Weekdays with at least one weekend day required
- Preferred days: Sunday to Thursday
Training Schedule
- Morning shifts during training: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (4 shifts)
Post-Training Schedule
- Early morning shifts: 3:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (minimum 2 shifts per week)
- Reliability and independent transportation are essential due to early start times

Compensation
$18.50 - $20.00 per hour
